The Hummingbird (01/29/07)

I don't know how many species of Humminbirds there are in the world. There are rumored to be at least 62 varieties in Arizona alone, so there must be many more than that in other places.

So graceful.

So dignified.

So dead.

What?

That's right. I found a dead hummingbird in my car today as I was vaccuming the floorboards. How it got there, or how long it had been there for that matter is a complete mystery to me. There is a gaping hole in my roof and I have discovered birds in my car before. As the tuft of feathers came out from underneath the carpet I assumed that it was associated with one of these unlucky creatures, each of whom had escaped without incident.

You can imagine my dismay then when the tuft of feathers was attached to a tiny beak and tiny little feat.

Guess that would explain the odd smell that has recently developed...

Great, now I'll have to go buy one of those stinky green trees.
